Just For Fun–Versatile Blogging Award!I

versatile-blogger1

Thank you to Lacie @ See You Starside for nominating me for the Versatile Blogging award.  I have been so busy lately that it has taken me quite a while to sit and write these things down–which is a shame, because I usually LOVE talking about myself!  I am always excited to get nominated for various awards and I hope that you find a little interest in what I shall now reveal about the person that is me…

First, the rules (which I have no problem with you altering in whatever way makes you comfortable):

First things first, here are the Rules:

  • If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.
  • Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy—if you can figure out how to do it.
  • Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
  • Nominate those 15 bloggers (or less) for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to the original site.

Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

Lacie, here are seven (somewhat entertaining, I hope) things about myself:

  1. My car is a shrine to the television show “Firefly.”  It was quite the pain in the butt going through the process of getting my personalized plates, but they are so, so beautiful.  I also have about ten clings attached to my rear window that represents each member of Serenity’s crew.  I won them at the Can’t Stop the Serenity screening we had in Metro Denver this summer.  The hubby hates them and I knew he would, but I wanted to give them a try. They’re working out so well I have kept them on for a couple of months now. I also have a license plate frame in honor of Wash. Last but not least I have a Janye (complete with crocheted hat) happy face ball hanging from my rear view mirror.  If you do not know Firefly I don’t know that we can be friends (I kid, I kid).  Seriously though, Nathan Fillion (Captain Tightpants) and Joss Whedon = perfection.
  2. Yellow, brown, and orange are my favorite colors of M&M’s.  I actually cried when tan was taken away and red and blue were added to the classic mix.  They just don’t taste the same.  I was thrilled to get to the M&M store in Las Vegas so that I could load up on the tan M&M’s but they no longer exist.  A part of my soul has been taken away. Sniff.  I also have a habit of eating M&M’s in groups of two. The colors have to mix well aesthetically or I may not eat them at all.  If I end up with stray candies that have no matches and are “odd” I will usually grab them together and eat them at once–then I go two by two.  Hey, I gotta be me.
  3. In case you couldn’t tell, I cuss like a sailor.  I would like to say that I try to keep it clean, but that would be a lie.  I try to be respectful of my surroundings, but other than that it’s say what I want when I want.  My son has a very large vocabulary.  Thank goodness he doesn’t say the special words he knows out loud yet.  I’m not ready.  I once confessed this habit to some of the older kids that I work with at the library and I think I went up in respect (or they started questioning their entire childhood).  Either way, they don’t look at me the same way.
  4. My desk at work is a cluttered mess and I wouldn’t be able to function as a human if it weren’t that way.  I’m a Youth Services Librarian–I think messy desks came with job title.  I do have to say that if my desk was pristine I wouldn’t be able to find a damn thing ever again.  I need to have things laying out in my view or I may never remember to take care of business.  My worst problem is the lists I make–they are stuck everywhere and they are on those yellow sticky pads that never want to actually stick to anything.  It looks like it’s been raining sticky notes everywhere.  Oh well.
  5. I am afraid of being forgotten.  Here I am being all light and breezy and then I slam this on you. I may seem light and breezy a lot of the time but the fact is I have a lot of insecurity and a lot of fear–about everything.  I am trying to come to grips with growing old and marching on towards death, but my anxiety increases every second of every day. I know I am going to die someday and when I dwell on that idea I really get pissed off.  I don’t want to die and then never be remembered again.  I want to do something great and memorable.  I want to write a book that makes people laugh.  I want to be quoted forever on facebook and beyond.  I want to live on as a meme.  I want my bones to be exhumed someday to help future civilizations understand how our generation lived back in the old, old, OLD days.  I want someone to look at my remains and say “What the hell is this?!”  They aren’t going to forget me after that!  Okay, I’m getting out of control now, but this is a serious fear of mine.  I want to make my mark.
  6.  I love the Muppets so much.  This is a little awkward.  I actually made a draft of this comment before the new Muppet television show started a few weeks ago and now I have to change it.  I love the OLDER Muppets so much. The new incarnation of my childhood favorites is a little too mature for me.  I just can’t unsee Fozzie Bear with a human girlfriend or my childhood favorites fighting hangovers.  I just can’t. Other than that, my husband was wearing a Kermit and Fozzie Bear tie when we got married and Rainbow Connection was playing during our first dance as husband and wife.  ‘Nuff said.
  7. My husband and I pretty much dated and fell in love while playing old video games in his basement.  Ah, young love.  We had no money, had no privacy, and had no where else to go.  This was the alternative.  We fell in love over Donkey Kong Country and Disney’s Aladdin on the Super Nintendo.  I believe that there is nothing better suited to finding out if people can get along than having them work together in a small confined space, with only one controller between them, trying to beat a children’s game.  We have been together for 23 years now–I know of which I speak.

Okay, who to nominate?  I am going to pass this on two five people that I really enjoy reading.  If you don’t want to do this, don’t sweat it.  I pass this on to:

barking back

a cooking pot and twisted tales

haddon musings

readers and more

carrots in my carryon

I know that I am leaving many people out, so if you do not see your site here, but would like to participate, please feel free. I would love to hear all about you.  Just make sure to link back to me so I can see it!

Hope all is well with you all.  This has been a lot of fun!

    1. It is truly a tragedy! And because they didn’t have my favorite at the M&M store I compensated by buying a pound of just yellow, Brown and orange. I paid so much for those candies I told my son he had to pay me 10 cents for each one he ate! I mean, I Could have bought four regular one pound bags at home for the same amount. Damn nostalgia.

    1. I was not good at Burger Time but the hubby was! I always liked it’s silly music the best. My least favorite game was Marble Madness. Way too stressful!
