After many years of saying I was going to write, I created this blog to keep a record of my thoughts and, hopefully, become a catalyst for turning my many thoughts into a funny book. I like to observe things (and overthink things), and this is a good place for me to purge my wayward thoughts into small, tasty bites. I hope people read my stories, relate to my life and find humor in the craziness. I wish to make new friends and I hope to turn this venture into something fun, funny, and tangible.
WHO AM I? Well, I am a 48 year old woman with the personality of a 16 year old girl. I watch and re-watch the same two television shows (Glee and The Mindy Project) and I love to drive my 8 year old son crazy. I am a Children’s Librarian in the Anythink (yes, that’s a thing) Library System in Colorado and have been since 2004. I have delusions of grandeur and I am completely convinced that there are people out there who actually what to hear what I have to say (even though I’m still not convinced that I want to hear what I have to say).
My default mode is usually in the negative and I have to work hard to pull myself into the happiness of life. Hence my handle on WordPress, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. is @whereshappy. I am always looking to find the good in things and the Zen in life even when I’m usually very impatient and frustrated that things aren’t always going my way. I talk A LOT and love to laugh and joke and make fun of my friends. It’s pretty much a given that if I like you, I make fun of you. Take it or leave it (please take it)! (Oh yeah, I also use parentheses a lot. Makes me feel like Mr. Subliminal.)
Okay, so I’ve admitted to being a bit wacky, but why have I started blogging? Well, the short answer is: because I finally got tired of watching life pass me by without actually reaching one of my biggest goals—to write a book. I have a good friend who actually published her first book on Amazon this year and I got a huge buzz just watching her go through the process. I realized that it might be possible for me to get over my fears and write my own book. It will be a series of life vignettes that, hopefully, make people laugh–and I give you all permission to laugh. I think I would be hurt if you didn’t. My blog is like the world’s most public rough draft. I want to get feedback, I want to feel that my words are valid, and I want to cultivate an audience. (And you thought you were just reading for fun.)
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
