Mini Musings- What Should I Save for my Book?

Hello, and happy Tuesday to you all! As I approach my two month anniversary of blogging (thank you, thank you very much) I am learning so many awesome things from the different blogs that I read and from the great people that interact with me through commenting on my posts! I think my biggest surprise is that there are so many young bloggers on here– a lot of high school and college kids.  I find that interesting because when I was that age I could barely muster up the energy to make it to school on time.  Kudos to you…

Literary Lion- Can I Have this Dance?

As a way of keeping my brain alert and to get myself some much needed practice writing fiction, I have decided to participate in a weekly writing activity prompted by the Literary Lion.  My piece can be no longer than 400 words long. This week’s theme was DANCE.  I hope you enjoy. His hand was warm on her back and she wondered if he could feel her trembling.  Emotions pulsed swiftly through her body with every beat of her heart.  That she was even in this moment with this boy was as surprising as her physical reaction to it.  He’d had…

Mini Musings-Why do I Hate What I Just Wrote?

Hey everyone, I decided to add a category to my blog where I can ask questions and just put out there some of the crazy things that go through my head from time to time. I am calling this section Mini Musings.  My stories tend to be between 1,000 and 2,000 words and sometimes I just want to throw something out there that will help me with one dilemma or another.  Hopefully these posts won’t be so constant that they become annoying. If you’re still with me at this point, I have a question.  If you are currently trying to…

I’m Coming to Get You, Al Roker

Things to do in New York for your very first visit: Visit Central Park, ride the Staten Island Ferry and try to get face time on the Today Show.  When the hubby and I finally got the chance to visit The City that Never Sleeps we made sure that we did all three.  Getting to Central Park was very easy and quite a lovely experience and riding the ferry was a beautiful moment (the Manhattan skyline is an absolute marvel). However, getting on the Today Show was a bit of a (cold) pain in the ass.  So, yes, it kind…

Hey, What’s Up With Dancing Sign Guy?

After the sixth red light in a row that I have had to stop and cool my heels, I see Dancing Sign Guy. He’s out on his corner spinning his cardboard sign around and around until it looks like he might catch air and start flying into the sky. I’m curious about what he has to say, but I can’t read the stinking sign. Hey, Dancing Sign Guy, calm down a minute so I can see what you’re peddling! He never makes eye-contact with me or anyone else. His baseball cap is pulled low over his brow and it is…

Literary Lion–The Motion of the Ocean

As a way of keeping my brain alert and to get myself some much needed practice writing fiction, I have decided to participate in a weekly writing activity prompted by the Literary Lion.  My piece can be no longer than 400 words long. This week’s theme was WATER.  I hope you enjoy. Giving a little cough, she rolled over to her back and stared up to the sky. One arm moved up her body until the back of her hand covered one eye. Thoughts flittered through her mind of how she got to be there at that very moment and on…
