Did I Join an Ornament Exchange or a Popularity Contest?

I wanted to try something new this year, so I finally gave in to the urge to sign up for an ornament exchange program with fifty or so of the closest facebook friends I’ve never met.  We all came together through the mutual love of all things Disney and spend a lot of time online asking each other questions about how to survive large crowds at the theme parks and/or posting pictures of our fabulous vacations to others (knowing that we are probably sending some followers into fits of jealousy).  It’s all a lot of helpful fun and I love…

If I Have to Look at that Sign for One More Day…

It’s that wonderful time of the year again where the air is getting crisper, leaves are delicately falling from sleepy trees and we are all forced to drive by forgotten political signs that will probably stay in the same place for the next six months. Where they will live as mud is splashed onto their colorful lettering; where they will huddle as snow collects upon them and slowly turns cardboard to mush; where they will sit idly by as various animals stop to take a piss upon them. Yes, it is a beautiful thing, to see democracy in action; to see people caring…

Thank You

I just want to take a second to say thank you to each and every Veteran that has ever been. Your service is greatly appreciated. Today I would also like to specifically honor my dad who served three tours in Vietnam as a United States Marine. I have been privileged  to hear some of his stories but they are many more still locked away. He has done much for his country and his family and I love him very much for it. This is also my opportunity to say thank you to all of the family members of Veterans who…

Just For Fun–Versatile Blogging Award!I

Thank you to Lacie @ See You Starside for nominating me for the Versatile Blogging award.  I have been so busy lately that it has taken me quite a while to sit and write these things down–which is a shame, because I usually LOVE talking about myself!  I am always excited to get nominated for various awards and I hope that you find a little interest in what I shall now reveal about the person that is me… First, the rules (which I have no problem with you altering in whatever way makes you comfortable): First things first, here are the Rules: If…

Mini Musings- I Sprung for Some Business Cards

Hello again to all of my blogging friends! Thanks to all of the great advice I got a few weeks ago (and a suggestion from my sister-in-law) I have been able to come up with two or three ideas to write about that are very exciting.  My last blog on haunted houses was fun to do and I will soon be touching on indoor skydiving and the time I accidentally had my hair turned into a fro (I might even have pictures of the debacle–stay tuned). This week I decided to bite the bullet and purchased 100 business cards with my…

Denver to Las Vegas– My Brain on a Road Trip

Euphoria We are out of here, people! I’ve got my water and my handful of emergency snacks and we are out of here!  Look at how beautiful it is at 5:30 am on a Sunday morning, with the sun still asleep and the millions of cars I would otherwise be doing battle with safely and snuggly tucked away in their happy little garages.  Wow!  I don’t think I’ve ever made it through all of the lights on this street without stopping at (at least) three different red lights.  And there’s no pressure to go a thousand miles an hour on this highway…

Just For Fun–Help Me Plan My Totally Awesome Vegas Vacation!

Vegas, baby!  That is where I am heading early Sunday morning with my mom and a very good friend.  We are jumping into my version of the family truckster (my twelve year old Prius) and zooming (okay, fighting for each mile) through the Rocky Mountains on a twelve hour journey to “The City of Lights”, or “The City that Never Sleeps”, or “The City that Makes You Really, Really Fat”–whatever most people call it these days.  I honestly don’t even care what nickname it has–I’m just going to call it “The City that Isn’t Here” and be happy with that!…

Sometimes Learning Myself Kind of Sucked

My parents loved to go on vacation without me.  Okay, I don’t know if love is the right word, but I don’t think they particularly missed me very much.   Back when there was still a gaggle of us rapscallions around, the road trip was THE thing to do during summer vacations.  The time honored tradition of shoving everything we owned into a small vehicle that we would then spend hours upon hours in was important in our household (and it was a good way to shut us up about being bored and tired of playing outside all the time). I…

Mini Musings- How Do I Avoid Self Sabotage?

Hello my friends, I have been neglecting my posts (and all of your posts) more and more lately and I have no real good reason for why that is happening.  I still find that I have many things that I want to write about, but I find that I would rather do something (anything) else than sit down and type them out!  (Let’s just say that I am going to have the most awesome Halloween costume this year.) I can’t imagine that I am the only person that feels this way once in a while and so I am asking…
