My brain is here, there and everywhere and I need help from my fellow blogging peeps! I have my blog set up in such a way that I can write whatever I want whenever I want and, personally, I find that to be helpful when it’s time for me to actually sit down and put in the time. However, as someone who is trying to increase followers, do you find that being more specific about a particular subject gets more readers (i.e. cooking, sewing, cars, etc.)? My all encompassing vision is a blog that has funny stories (although I have…
Literary Lion- Are We There Yet?
As a way of keeping my brain alert and to get myself some much needed practice writing fiction, I have decided to participate in a weekly writing activity prompted by the Literary Lion. My piece can be no longer than 400 words long. This week’s theme was EYE. I hope you enjoy. Sunlight caressed her face as she struggled to wake from a not so deep sleep. She tried to stretch as best as she could from her cramped space in the backseat of the car. Scratchy songs from the country radio channel wafted quietly through the air as dad drove…
Just For Fun- A Smorgasbord of Yours Truly
Happy Monday everybody! It’s a new day, a new week and a new chance to do all kinds of awesome things! I am very tired from an extremely busy weekend, so I am sorry that my responses to these award nominations are so late. I managed to finish the Warrior Dash on Saturday, but my arms are essentially jelly, so my answers will be short and sweet (at least for me). I have also condensed all of the award questions into one blog so there was a lot of cutting and pasting going on. Please forgive any mistakes. As I have…
Just For Fun- Sunshine Blogger Award
When it rains it pours! Just after creating my own blogging award, I was nominated for a couple of different awards by some of my blogging friends. I always love answering questions and I appreciate that the people that nominate me think they would like to hear more about me. Thank you to @Coolbeans4 for nominating me for this award. This photo is definitely going on my front page. What to do for the award: 1) Thank the person who nominated you. 2) Answer the questions from the person who has nominated you. 3) Nominate some other bloggers for this award….
Am I Really Getting off the Couch for This?
Tomorrow is the big day, everybody. Wish me luck! Thought I would repost, even though it’s not so terribly old… I get it! I get it. You want me to work out. And by “you” I mean every person that has been sending emails, facebook advertisements, Groupon and livingsocial deals inviting me to run, play, jump and climb on various types of courses and equipment. And you found your target audience– yay you! The only way you’re going to get me to join any exercising event is by adding tons of toys and costumes that deflect from the fact that…
Mini Musings- What Should I Save for my Book?
Hello, and happy Tuesday to you all! As I approach my two month anniversary of blogging (thank you, thank you very much) I am learning so many awesome things from the different blogs that I read and from the great people that interact with me through commenting on my posts! I think my biggest surprise is that there are so many young bloggers on here– a lot of high school and college kids. I find that interesting because when I was that age I could barely muster up the energy to make it to school on time. Kudos to you…
Literary Lion- Can I Have this Dance?
As a way of keeping my brain alert and to get myself some much needed practice writing fiction, I have decided to participate in a weekly writing activity prompted by the Literary Lion. My piece can be no longer than 400 words long. This week’s theme was DANCE. I hope you enjoy. His hand was warm on her back and she wondered if he could feel her trembling. Emotions pulsed swiftly through her body with every beat of her heart. That she was even in this moment with this boy was as surprising as her physical reaction to it. He’d had…
Mini Musings-Why do I Hate What I Just Wrote?
Hey everyone, I decided to add a category to my blog where I can ask questions and just put out there some of the crazy things that go through my head from time to time. I am calling this section Mini Musings. My stories tend to be between 1,000 and 2,000 words and sometimes I just want to throw something out there that will help me with one dilemma or another. Hopefully these posts won’t be so constant that they become annoying. If you’re still with me at this point, I have a question. If you are currently trying to…
I’m Coming to Get You, Al Roker
Things to do in New York for your very first visit: Visit Central Park, ride the Staten Island Ferry and try to get face time on the Today Show. When the hubby and I finally got the chance to visit The City that Never Sleeps we made sure that we did all three. Getting to Central Park was very easy and quite a lovely experience and riding the ferry was a beautiful moment (the Manhattan skyline is an absolute marvel). However, getting on the Today Show was a bit of a (cold) pain in the ass. So, yes, it kind…
Hey, What’s Up With Dancing Sign Guy?
After the sixth red light in a row that I have had to stop and cool my heels, I see Dancing Sign Guy. He’s out on his corner spinning his cardboard sign around and around until it looks like he might catch air and start flying into the sky. I’m curious about what he has to say, but I can’t read the stinking sign. Hey, Dancing Sign Guy, calm down a minute so I can see what you’re peddling! He never makes eye-contact with me or anyone else. His baseball cap is pulled low over his brow and it is…
